हर ताल विलंबित है। हर कदम लेट है। कदम के रूप में एक पैर उठता है तो दूसरी ज़मीन पर रखने की दर लेट है। पेड़ों के पत्ते एक बार जब झूम कर बांए से दाएं जाते हैं तो उनका फिर से दांए से बांयी ओर जाना लेट है।
आदमी घर से निकलने वाला था पर लेट है। स्टेशन से गाड़ी खुलने में लेट है। बहुत मामले रूके पड़े हैं और उनपर कार्यवाई लेट है। दफ्तर में टेबल से फाइलों का सरकना रूका है। चमत्कार होना रूका हुआ है। प्रेम होना तक मुल्तवी है। की जा रही प्रतीक्षा भी होल्ड पर है। बारिश रूकी हुई है।
जाम से शहर रूका हुआ है। गाए जाने वाला गीत भी जुबां पर रूका है। किसी से कुछ कहना रूका है। किसी से झगड़ लेने की इच्छा रूकी है। किसी के लिए गाली भी हलक में रूकी हुई है।
बाप से बहस करना रूक गया है। मां को घर छोड़कर भाग जाने की धमकी भी पिछले कुछ महीनों से नहीं दी गई है। लिखना रूका है। पढ़ना ठप्प है। जीना रूका पड़ा है।
पेड़ों पर के पत्ते रूके हुए हैं। आसमान में चांद रूक गया है। किसी का फोन पर हैलो बोलकर रूकना, रूक गया है।
कुछ हो रहा है तो उसका एहसास होना रूक गया है। सिगरेट जल्दी खत्म होना रूक गया है।
बारिश अपने बरसने में रूकी है। ऐसा लगता है कि पूरे शहर में इंतज़ार की बारिश है। सभी अपनी चाहत की दहलीज पर छाता ताने खड़े हैं। वह कभी आसमान देखता है तो कभी बाहर का मौसम। फिर अंदाजे लगाता है और साथ वाले इंतज़ारी को अपने अनुमान बताता है। मन में यह दृश्य भी रूक गया है कि कहीं उसका कोई मुलाकाती भी रूका होगा।
और इसी दृश्य का रूकना भी रूका हुआ है। प्ले बटन आंखों से ओझल है और पॉज रूका पड़ा है।
उम्र रूकी है। गणना करना रूक गया है। अच्छा-बुरा सोचना भी रूका है। नफे नुकसान का हिसाब लगाना भी बंद है।
रूक जाने की इच्छा गलत समय तो जरूर है मगर रूकने की यह चाहत बरसों से अंदर रूकी थी। मन वहीं रूका है जो पल अतीत में तेज़ी से चल रहा था। उनमें पंख लगे थे और जिसके रूक जाने के बारे में भी हम सोच नहीं पा रहे थे।
कुछ लम्हें रूक गए हैं और उनमें जीने की चाहत अंदर रूकी पड़ी है। बस यही चल पड़ने की घड़ी है जो रूकना चाहता है।
